Members of Rwandan Community Abroad meet with Foreign Affairs Minister and other Government Agencies
Kigali, 24 December 2019 - Members of Rwandan Community Abroad (RCA) met with Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Vincent Biruta and other Government Agencies over a breakfast interaction session. It was an opportunity to interact and discuss on the opportunities available to RCA as well AS their important role and contribution in the national development.
Hon. Minister Vincent Biruta made a key address followed by presentations by Prof Anastase Shyaka - Minister of Local Government, Hon. Tito Rutaremara, Mr. Richard Tusabe from Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB), Mr. Jack Nkusi Kayonga - CEO of Agaciro development Fund and Tom Ntagozera - Vice Chairman of Rwanda Diaspora Global Network (RDGN).
Minister of State Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe called on the Rwandans living in the diaspora to be cohesive and work together. Rwandans living abroad were also engaged on ways they can be involved in national development and also gain insights into challenges they might be facing.
Among the major ways that Rwandans living abroad can be involved in the country’s development include: investment in the country, saving in local schemes, contribution to Agaciro Development Fund, citizen participation and combating Genocide denial.
During the interaction with, Minister Biruta announced that Minaffet together with the Office of Government's Spokesperson (OGS) and Rwanda Cooperative Initiative (RCI) would contribute 700 Mara Phones under Connect Rwanda. He challenged members of RCA to do the same.
In his closing remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vincent Biruta thanked members of RCA together with Rwandan high officials and government agencies and institutions present for fruitful discussions. Speaking on behalf of Minaffet and other Rwandan institutions Minister Biruta told RCA members that: ''our doors remain open'' and wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
